Candlewood Church Omaha is a growing group of people trying to get closer to God and are excited about helping others get closer to God. We strive to love God and others, build strong families, provide a place where people can reach their full potential, and genuinely care for the needs of our communities. Leading Starts with Serving
“Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else” (Mark 9:35). Jesus calls you to serve God and other people with joy. God created you with unique abilities to make a difference. It’s impossible to do everything and be everything to everyone, but you can serve others with your God-given gifts to help others and His kingdom.
Serving the Church
Serving teams are imperative. From serving coffee to making disciples in Candlewood Kids, each volunteer is needed and valued. Whether you have one hour per month or 20 hours per week, we have opportunities that match your spiritual gifts, unique abilities, and talents. Whatever your gifting, there is a place for you on a Candlewood Church serving team.
Serving Teams
Candlewood Kids
Team Purpose: to help children build a relationship with God through Sunday School classes. Classes are provided for ages 4-12 (Pre-K to K, 1st Grade to 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade to 6th Grade classes)
Team Expectations: to teach the provided curriculum. Background check will be administered.
Skills Needed: heart for children, ability to maintain attention of children, to provide direction and instruction
Connect Team
Team Purpose: seeks to make every person feel welcome
Team Expectations: pray regularly for God’s blessing on our team’s serving, show up presentably dressed and ready to serve from about 25 minutes before first service until 10 minutes into second service, and be a good host - welcome visitors and members, get to know them and how you can make their experience at Candlewood better, answer questions they may have, show them around the building, and be willing to sit with them to make them feel welcome
Skills Needed: friendly, care for experience of others, conversation starter, dependable
Hospitality Team
Team Purpose: serves refreshments before services
Team Expectations: serves on a rotating schedule - for one month, four times per year
Skills Needed: servant’s heart
Landscaping Team
Team Purpose: to keep Candlewood Church’s ground maintained by mowing, trimming and garden bed upkeep
Team Expectations: Meets twice monthly (Saturdays 9:00-10:00). Training provided.
Skills Needed: team player, working knowledge of tools and equipment
Lights Team
Team Purpose: manages lighting colors and levels during church services and events
Team Expectations: will learn how to use lighting software. Training provided. Monthly rotations typically serving for both services and some midweek events.
Skills Needed: teachable, dependable
Livestream Team
Team Purpose: to make the church service accessible online
Team Expectations: Livestream input from the camera, projection team, and sound team. Also record the stream and upload videos to the internet each week. Training provided. Monthly rotations typically serving during the first service.
Skills Needed: teach savy, teachable, dependable
Maintenance Team
Team Purpose: to maintain a clean, welcoming environment for services and events
Team Expectations: to clean the church building. Training and direction provided.
Skills Needed: dependable
Media Team
Team Purpose: to engage, communicate, and inform with members and non-members online via social media and website
Team Expectations: team members will share original photos, sermons, events, announcements, verses, and blogs on social media channels. Skilled team members provide original pictures, create graphics, and maintain website.
Skills Needed: teachable spirit, ability to develop detailed and professional content, excellent written and verbal communication skills, graphic design, photography
Nursery
Team Purpose: to provide a dependable, safe, and secure care to children ages 0-4 years
Team Expectations: serves on a rotating schedule - 2-3 times a semester. Background check will be administered
Skills Needed: heart for kids, dependable
Prayer Team
Team Purpose: to glorify God, to ask for His help and blessings
Team Expectations: prays over the church service each Sunday morning
Skills Needed: love for prayer, love for people
Slides / Projection Team
Team Purpose: to contribute to the worship experience making it easy for attendees to follow along
Team Expectations: compiles and executes slides for church services. Training provided. Monthly rotations typically serving for both services and some midweek events.
Skills Needed: dependable, attentive, strong technical skills and cool under pressure
Sound Team
Team Purpose: to assist worship teams and pastors in bringing excellence to sharing the gospel through mixing audio levels for services and events
Team Expectations: to learn and understand the sound board. Training provided. Monthly rotation typically serving for both Sunday services and some midweek events.
Skills Needed: listening skills, teachable spirit
Translation Team
Team Purpose: to reach and include those whose preferred language isn’t English
Team Expectations: to interpret church services and translate materials into foreign language
Skills Needed: ability to translate oral or written English into another language
Security Team
Team Purpose: to provide security; monitors church building during the service
Team Expectations: able to help when immediate needs arise. Serves on a rotating schedule
Skills Needed: dependable
