Youth Group

6th to 12th graders are equipped to be strong followers of Christ. We support each member’s personal relationship with Christ, and help them do the same for others.

At Candlewood Church Omaha, our Youth Group is for the 6th through 12th graders of Candlewood. It’s not just a youth group, but a teen ministry that is actively serving and reaching people for Christ with a goal to build strong young leaders.

Goal: We want to win with our children by winning them to Christ, building up their faith, teaching them to love others and serve, and raising up leaders. We also desire to see parents take the lead in helping their teens develop these characteristics. Families that pursue these goals will be difference makers in their city.

Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.

The activities of the youth group fit within the core values of Candlewood Church which include living out and sharing the gospel, being devoted to Christ, developing strong character, and building strong, balanced families. The teen ministry is a continuance of our other children’s ministries and serves as a transition towards adulthood and the responsibility and independence therein.

God appoints parents as the persons responsible for raising and training their children, in particular the father. Because of this, the Candlewood Teen Ministry is parent led. Additionally, God also has high standards for our behavior, and we will apply these high standards to our teens in the areas of relationships, service, devotion to God, and outreach.

Practices

Regular, father-led, bible study, prayer, and fellowship

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Outreach

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Service

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

What to Expect

During the school year, the Youth Group meets the first, third, and fifth Wednesdays of the month at the church in our Education Room. The meetings consist of worship, group game and members sharing thoughts from their individual quiet times and prayer requests. The whole group will also go through a Bible Study on specific topics, books in the Bible or issues relevant at hand.

The students in our Youth Group also have the opportunity to attend spring and / or summer conferences.
