As a leader of your children, the time, attitude and energy you put into your family determines the quality of it. You are either giving off negativity from your sinful nature or positivity from Christ. Every day you have a choice, to be hopeful or discouraged. To “get to” be with your kids rather than you “have to” be with your kids. You can look forward to making the next moment great as a positive parent or to dwell on the past of everything that went wrong. 

When you are giving into sin, your kids can feel it and will reflect it! Your attitude is contagious. Your family is just as likely to catch your bad mood as the flu or they will catch your good mood. Invite God’s Holy Spirit to consume and transform your heart and to live by fruits of the Spirit. God's Holy Spirit can give us the power we need to faith-filled parents, to see, believe and create a brighter and better future. 

You Have a Choice 

In every great story the protagonist wants to achieve something but has to overcome hardship in order to get it. Life works the same way. Hardship will be part of your story as you try to achieve your goals. But when that hardship hits, turn to God and choose to overcome, to create a positive outcome. Ask God to help give you joy that’s greater than the hardships closing in around you. 

If we endure hardship, we will reign with him.

- 2 Timothy 2:12a 

If you always see yourself as the victim, you will always stay down. But if you see yourself as the hero, heroes get back up! In the midst of a hero’s struggle, they look for and find an opportunity. Don’t get stuck in the mud and stay down. 

Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts. 

- Hebrews 3:15a 

Choose joy each day when you wake up, not based on your circumstances, but based on something God did for you long ago. Salvation is the reason you can choose joy! God loves you and you belong to him. Ask God to help you remember him throughout your day, to turn to him when things get hard. God is there for you in the midst of everything going on. Choose to hear his voice instead of falling into sin. With God’s help, with God’s love, with God’s promises given to you in his Word, with God you can have faith in a better future.
