The first week of SLT is in the books! Mark Darling, pastor of The Rock Church in Minneapolis, came down and gave us two energetic and powerful teachings about living a devoted life and having a passionate walk with God. He said that as a whole, many Christians have forgotten God, which he claimed is the greatest sin, because if God doesn’t have our heart, He doesn’t have anything. He challenged believers with the truth that “you will not last in the Christian life if you don’t have an emotional connection with God,” and called Christians to learn to “dump” on God in prayer.
On Wednesday, Small Groups were able to share their lives and go deeper in their relationships as they discussed these messages. Many were motivated to work diligently at not having hard hearts toward God this summer, to learn to process disappointments biblically and be more thankful for what God has done in their lives.
Summer Leadership Training (SLT) is one of the best ways to grow in your passion for God, as well as in your character. It is a challenging time, but those who commit to the program do not regret their decision. What better time than while you’re young to learn the habits that will carry you through the rest of your life?
If you haven’t been able to come to SLT events, yet, whether Monday and Tuesday teachings, Wednesday Small Groups, Thursday dinners with families, or Friday and Saturday outreach activities, be sure to check them out this week!
