Short Term Mission (STM) Trip
El Paso, TX

Why El Paso, TX?
Pastor Steve Nelson and his wife Kathleen have been in our Alliance of Churches for over thirty years. They helped start a church in Greeley, CO, and then they took their family and a small team to start a church, The Rio Church, in El Paso, TX.
El Paso is over seventy percent bi-lingual. It is a border city and crossing with Juarez, Mexico. El Paso is home to four military bases. Besides being a strategic city for making disciples who will take the gospel with them to many other places as they come and go from El Paso, Steve and Kathleen Nelson have also served a key role in offering Parenting 101 classes to many churches over the years, including Candlewood.
Their ministry springs from a heart to build strong disciples by building strong families. They are like-minded believers with a common vision with Candlewood’s vision for making strong families and strong disciples.
For this trip, Shea S will be the team lead from Candlewood Church in Omaha, NE. He will faithfully serve with his family.
STM Costs
Transportation to El Paso and back are on your own. Some will fly, some will drive.
(Approximate Airfare if you choose to fly: $400 to $600/person)
- $270/person aged 10 and above (housing, food, transportation while in El Paso for STM)
- $140/person under age 10 (housing, food, transportation while in El Paso for STM)
There is a $25 application fee. Please pay here after submitting your application. The application fee is non-refundable but will go towards your total STM total cost. Once accepted, you will be assigned a giving link that all future payments should be directed through.
Bonus: Includes a tour of Carlsbad Caverns

May 1st $75 (if you have a remaining balance due)
June 1st $55 (if you have a remaining balance due)

If you are considering going on this upcoming mission trip, you may find the resources below helpful.
You or your mission trip supporters can give online or by check to your personal link assigned by Candlewood Church once your application has been accepted.
Checks need to be made payable to Candlewood Church with your name and STM designation in the memo.
Application Deadline: We only have capacity for twenty adults! Also, if you intend to give others an opportunity to support your STM financially, the sooner you start the better.

We believe mission trips can be of tremendous value to the people going on the trip, as well as to the communities and churches being visited and served.
