Many of us make annual New Year’s resolutions, only to abandon them while the year is in its infancy. New Year’s resolutions are usually great goals, but we can lack the willpower to keep them. In Psalm 101, King David speaks boldly about his resolve to govern his home and kingdom with integrity and righteousness.
This year, an easy first step is to pray for the same declarations in your home – to have integrity and to live righteously. Prayer is powerful and can change lives! What do you predict will change in your life as a result? Possibly your

It’s never been a better time to focus on keeping your word and to be less influenced by the world. We know that determination alone can’t carry us, and King David knew that too. He made bold statements and followed through because he knew that God was loving, just, and dependable. God is the real power behind resolutions. With God’s help, you can make bold resolutions and follow through with them as well.
Dedicate Yourself to God
What can I offer the Lord for all he has done for me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and praise the Lord’s name for saving me. I will keep my promise to the Lord in the presence of all his people.
Have you established a tradition for New Year’s Eve? If not, perhaps it could involve
- some time in prayer with your loved ones
- sharing your resolutions
By sharing your resolutions, your family and or friends can help hold you accountable.
Be a Blessing of Hospitality
Whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone – especially those in the family of faith.
Galatians 6:10 NLT
Are you having a hard time knowing what to do for a new year resolution? Being a blessing to others with hospitality is a great place to start! Look for opportunities to serve by listening to those around you. It can be easy to live in your own private bubble; however, try reaching out and making new relationships.
When you begin a new friendship, you have a chance to model Christ in your life by showing them the love of God through kindness.
