Mom’s Time at Candlewood Church Omaha

At Candlewood Church in Omaha, NE, one of our ministries is just for moms – Mom’s Time. Emilee Brandl, a Candlewood Church member and a loving wife and mom of two, tells us what Mom’s Time is all about in our latest blog.

What is Mom’s Time?

Mom’s Time is a monthly meeting with moms of all ages and in different stages of the motherhood journey with children still in the home (from pregnant mothers to mothers of teens).

It is a time of encouragement and edification where we can dive into the Biblical principles behind parenting and look to the Lord first and foremost for guidance. This fellowship time is so powerful because moms are able to connect with other moms in the thick of parenting, experiencing similar struggles, and encourage each other in this noble task God has given us, to raise disciples in our homes.

Why is Mom’s Time Important?

Having moms in different stages of the journey is a huge blessing as we share stories, advice, struggles, and Scripture that have helped us along the way. Also, it’s is a safe-place to come to escape the judgments and voices of the world and to be welcomed, loved, and encouraged.

Beth Ball, mother of four, said, “Mom’s Time may be my favorite Candlewood event of the month. I always leave challenged to love God and my children more purposefully, but also encouraged that the work I do every day in my home has eternal value.”

When is Mom’s Time?

Mom’s Time is the third Friday of each month at 9:30 a.m at Candlewood Church Omaha (5051 F St.). We are currently going through the book and sermon series “Instructing a Child’s Heart” by Tedd & Margy Tripp. Moms gather and enjoy snacks and fellowship before and after the message. The pastor wives lead the meeting, during which they listen to a Tedd Tripp message and then discuss questions, action points, prayer requests, etc.

“We are raising children in a dangerous culture that is impossible to quarantine. It seeps into our homes through cracks. The electronic game and entertainment industry offers a toxic culture to our children. If we are not self-consciously providing a culture rooted in truth, our children will be more influenced by the majority culture than they are by us and God’s Truth.” –Tedd Tripp, Instructing a Child’s Heart

Dani Titus, a new mom, said, “Mom’s Time has helped me to see the bigger picture. I’ve learned that blind obedience from our children is not the goal itself. The goal is rather to help my daughter understand that her momma, her daddy, and God can all be trusted. It is to show our children how awe-inspiring God is and how good it is to know Him. Mom’s Time helps me to parent with the perspective of what matters most.”

Childcare is Provided

Children are welcome to attend as childcare is provided with a free-will offering for the childcare workers. Mom’s Time has a committed group of The Rock college women who faithfully and intentionally spend time with the kids while the mothers are in the meeting. Their service is such a blessing as it frees up the moms to focus on the content, and the children have so much fun.
