T minus 27 days and counting! Wait…that can’t be right, Christmas is in 25 days. What could be in 27 days that needs a countdown? The correct answer is…Faithwalkers!!!
Faithwalkers is an annual conference sponsored by member churches and ministries in Great Commission Churches, from December 27-30. This year there will be two different locations hosting this conference: Asheville, North Carolina (East) and Des Moines, Iowa (Midwest). For most of us that attend Candlewood Church in Omaha and Lincoln, the obvious choice of location would be to make the quick trip across the river to Des Moines, but for some the slightly warmer temperatures of North Carolina might be tempting enough to make the trek!
I attended my first Faithwalkers in 2007, and every year since then I have anxiously looked forward to December in anticipation for the next Faithwalkers. Each year the theme has been different but from my own experience each year’s messages have been just as engaging, thought provoking, inviting, challenging, and yet refreshing as the previous year. Past themes have included “Totally Committed,” “Changing Lives,” “Blessed,” “Jesus: His Life, His Mission,” and this years theme of “Heroes” is ready to be added to the list.
When asked about this year’s Faithwalkers and theme, one pastor explained, “At Faithwalkers 2014 we will focus on God’s heroes. We will study the lives of these individuals who, just like all of us, were ordinary people – men and women who despite their sins, their weaknesses and their failures became heroes for the cause of Christ.”
Whether this is possibly your first time attending this conference or tenth time, I invite you to set apart December 27-30, 2014 for Faithwalkers 2014. It’s not too late to join me in the countdown!
