Check in/out reminders: Exit the education room quickly!
Parents, it is important that you continue to escort your children to Sunday school as part of our check in process. Please ensure that whoever is teaching or taking attendance has acknowledged you and/or your children as they enter. When picking your children up from Sunday school, 3 and 4 year olds will be released by the teacher when you greet them at the door. 5 and 6 year olds are in the back corner of the large Sunday school room and need to be retrieved from that location. Kids age 7+ will connect with someone at the front table and wait for their children to meet them. After you’ve picked up your children, please clear the room by exiting into the foyer so that those dismissing children can easily spot those who are still remaining. We ask that parents and children move to the front foyer area or to the multipurpose room if you wish to continue in fellowship.
Why crafts? Tell the good news!
One aspect of our Sunday School Discoverers (ages 5-6 year olds) program is CRAFTS! The crafts are thoughtfully sourced to help engage and reiterate the corresponding lesson. Whether discussing them in the car ride home from church or hanging them on the fridge and talking about it during the week, these crafts are a great way to help kids remember what they learned. Our hope is that these crafts would not only bring some fun into the classroom, but will also be a resource to the parents!
Why fellowship? Reflect Christ’s love!
Games and fellowship time in Sunday school are more than just fun, they’re a chance for kids to grow in God-honoring friendships. As they play, they learn to communicate, encourage one another, and build connections that reflect Christ’s love. It’s a space for laughter and learning how to be a friend.
Why One Big Story Bible Storybook? Christ connections!
Our terrific teaching team in Sunday school uses the Bible directly as they plan their teachings. However, sometimes in the Discoverers class, teachers read from One Big Story Bible Storybook to summarize the story before beginning their craft. This book was carefully selected because it does such a great job of connecting students with the BIG picture- Jesus! Each story- whether from the Old Testament or New- offers a way for teachers to help kids make a “Christ Connection”. Ultimately our goal in Sunday School is to point kids towards Jesus and The One Big Story Bible Storybook does a great job in helping us to do that.
Attention parents! We need YOU! Join the Sunday school team!
We have an AMAZING team of gifted teachers who have prepared lessons and questions for the students to work through every Sunday in age appropriate small groups. What Sunday School needs are discussion group leaders for the Explorers! (Age 7-11). If you are a parent of an Explorer, we ask that you join the team and serve once every 6 weeks: praying with the kids in small groups and asking them already prepared questions! No prep work required! All you need is a background check and to serve both services once every 6 weeks. Please reach out to Dan Corral to get on the schedule!
SUMMER Memory Master!
Psalm 119: 11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
God’s word is more powerful than anything else- including our words as parents. The Sunday school teachers at Candlewood desire to come alongside parents and give you tools to help make this happen.
Below are verses we would like you to work on memorizing as a family. June 1, July 6, August 3, and September 7 the Memory Master Verse Check team will be at Sunday school to listen to the verses from the previous month and award the students who memorize them!
Still not enough memorization? Continue with the core verses of the Memory Master program, located in the folders in the southwest corner of the Education Room. Students who memorize these extra verses will be awarded extra prizes!

- Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
- Romans 1:20 “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
