Candlewood Kids April, May and June Parent Guide for 7-11 Year Olds

Candlewood Kids: The Power of God’s Word

2nd - 5th grade class

Parent Guide: April,  May, and June 2024

The heart of Candlewood Church is that parents would be the main source of Biblical instruction in the life of their children. It is the desire of the Sunday School team to come alongside parents to support them and to spur them on in a parent’s pursuit to point their children towards the love of Christ.

During the next few months, your student will hear testimonies about the power of God’s word in the lives of people in our church.

The Sunday School team would encourage parents to tell their own stories about seeing this power in their lives!

Deuteronomy 6 is a powerful parenting verse that instructs parents to talk about God daily:

5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Talk to your child about reading God’s word!

What verses are your favorite?

What verses has God used to impact your life?

If you don’t read the Bible regularly with your child,

now is the perfect time to start!

Some verses we will be discussing in Sunday School over the next few months are:

  • Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
  • Psalm 119: 105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
  • Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Consider memorizing these verses as a family!
